Less than 5% of completed or attempted rapes were reported to the police.

  • 90,186 forcible rapes in 2000 were reported to police.
    90,186 X 20 = 1,803,720

  • 247,730 forcible rapes in 2002. Using the same equation multiply by 20 = 4,954,600 rapes
*With regard to date rape, 35% of attempted rapes, 12.8% of completed rapes and 22.9% of threatened rapes took place on a date.

In 91.5% of attempted rapes and 2/3 of completed rapes, some type of self-protective action was involved.

Based on these statistics, what this tells us, is what we as women have been taught and told about self defense is ineffective and does not work.

Michael, You are so perceptive to realize that self-defense is very different from sports, martial arts, or fitness. Many instructors just don't get that!

This is no course for people who want to hide from reality. It is a face to face, honest look at what can and does happen when predators prey on women. My college-aged daughter and I were taught how to defend ourselves not just from physical attack but also how to correctly state our situation to law enforcement.
